For my first try at getting out of my cooking rut, I made malfoof - vegetarian stuffed cabbage with chickpeas and rice. The recipe comes from A Fistful of Lentils, by Jennifer Abadi. I didn't take a picture of the dish.
The recipe serves 6. I cut the recipe in half (I was making this for two of us: how much stuffed cabbage did we want to eat?) and so I bought a small cabbage.
Lesson learned: small cabbages have small leaves.
The smaller the leaf, the less there is to roll up. The dish came out semi-lasagna-like - more of a layered stuffing and cabbage, rather than actual rolls. However, the taste wasn't bad.
